    HOBBES: ATHEIST OR  BELIEVER IN GOD? 
         Some
    authors have attempted to turn Hobbes into a
    "materialist," and  deduce so from his writings. The Leviathan 
    is his greatest and most revealing work. In it he wrote 
    several chapters that  reveal a profound knowledge of scriptures 
    and an undeniable commitment to Christianity.
